What We Do
CHILD EDUCATION
With support from partners such as Erikshjälpen, RODA was able to buy land, construct and maintain four (4) Christian founded schools in Bussi Island in Wakiso-Bussi Junior School, Masaka – Kaswa Day and Boarding Primary School, Hoima – Munteme Junior School and Mbarara – Adullam Primary School. The functioning of these schools has enabled vulnerable and marginalized children to access and receive quality education at subsidized costs. This is in addition to the spiritual nurturing and child care. To date, RODA and partners’ support in Uganda have focused on primary-level education for vulnerable and marginalized children. The four (4) RODA schools are currently serving a total of 1,400 children
CHILD PROTECTION
Amagara Masya is a street children’s rehabilitation, education and reintegration program that is being implemented by RODA in Rwobuyenje – Mbarara district in Uganda. Amagara Masya was initiated by RODA and Vieback folk school following the street outreaches conducted by Outlook students in Mbarara 2008. The project gives education and life skills to the homeless children on the streets of Mbarara district and its surrounding environs.
The program uses the STOP (Structure, Time, Organized Play, and, Parenting) model to ensure transformation and reinforcement of children participation. Children receive education, counseling, food aid, medical care & material support. They are entitled to these benefits even after resettlement until they complete school.
With support from Erikshjalpen,RODA constructed a rehabilitation home that shelters the street children for a period of two (2) years before they are resettled back home. To avoid relapse, the program works closely with families to help child adapt, build competence and social responsibility. At Amagara Masya, the children’s rehabilitation package comprises a number of components that include; rescue and rehabilitation of children, acceleration of children learning abilities, community awareness and household economic empowerment. The ultimate aim is to create an enabling environment to enhance socio-economic well-being of street children and contribute towards holistic transformation of street children, families, and communities into fulfilled and responsible citizens.
LIVELIHOODS

FEP places emphasis on increasing household food production, improving access to microfinance and credit, enhancing entrepreneurial skills for families, supporting cooperative formation and marketing and strengthening household resilience and coping mechanism
